Advert for Lengthsman for Hartlebury Parish Council – to start on 1st April 2025
Hartlebury Parish Council is seeking applications for a Parish Lengthsman to support the maintenance and enhancement of the Parish from 1st April 2025.
The Parish Lengthsman is a self-employed person and this contract for services is for one year in the first instance, to be reviewed on 1st April 2026.
The Lengthsman plays a vital role in ensuring the upkeep of vegetation at lane junctions, verges and communal areas, contributing to the overall quality of life and safety for our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regular trimming of lane junction visual splays.
- Clearing debris and litter from verges, ditches, culverts, grids and public areas.
- Hedge trimming and management of overgrown vegetation to clear traffic and village signs.
- Minor repairs and improvements to public infrastructure requiring collaboration with the Parish Council to identify maintenance needs.
- Working with vehicle activated traffic signs
Eligibility Criteria:
- Proven experience in Parish Lengthsman work, grounds maintenance or similar roles.
- Provision of equipment and tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of the WCC Parish Lengthsman reporting systems
- Ideally you will be trained to 12D M1 MWO (Labourer) and TTMBC (Trainee) Classification Traffic Management, but training would be given by Worcestershire County Council for the correct applicant.
- Public Liability Insurance to £10,000,000
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and relevant health and safety documentation would be required.
Hours and rate
- Parish Lengthsman work is flexible on times, hours may vary but it is estimated that up to 120 hours per year would be needed.
- Hourly rate to be agreed in consultation with applicant. + 45p per mile
